A day trip to rockport
A quick getaway to the blue paradise
Ever thinking of escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city for a while?
Hop on the commuter train from the North Station and just about one hour later you will arrive at your destination perfect for a summer day trip!
Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Rockport is a seaside town in Essex county located 40 miles northeast of Boston at the tip of Cape Ann peninsula. The town is known for its Motif #1; the little red fishing shack that inspired so many artists over the years, and basically an active art colony that has 30 galleries featuring works of over 400 artists.
Take a walk through Dock Square and Bearskin Neck and find some great galleries, antique shops, small ice cream parlors, and some famous New England restaurants where you can taste lobster rolls and more!
Strolling around the small street leading to Halibut Point was my favorite part of the trip. It was so nice to change the scenery from the concrete jungle of the city to the blue of the ocean and small wooden houses. I will definitely re-do the experience this summer.
